VCE Summer Internship Information

This is the first year that we have been able to offer a ten week Summer 4-H Internship position to a local college student who might be considering a career with Virginia Cooperative Extension.  After selecting and interviewing four excellent candidates, Lizzie Funkhouser, a VT student from Mount Jackson, was hired for the position.  Lizzie grew up showing livestock in the Shenandoah Co. 4-H Program, so this is giving her some experience behind the scenes with what it takes to make 4-H, and other Extension educational programs, successful.

We would not have been able to offer this internship program without grant funding from the Shenandoah Community Foundation and from the Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up Program.  Virginia Cooperative Extension offered matching funding.  We truly appreciate our network of donors who have made this opportunity available to a local student this summer.

Please read Lizzie’s blog to follow her 4-H and Extension journey this summer.
